Good Morning Hip Hop: Brand Name - Mac Miller
GO:OD AM - MAC MILLER
Good Morning Hip Hop,
Peace Morning All Happy Friday....
RIP Mac Miller...
This morning we are talking about the Good Brother Mac Miller aka Malcolm McCormick from Pittsburgh, PA. This track is from his Certified Gold Album "GO:OD AM" his 3rd studio album released September 18, 2015... This is one of those Jazzy tracks that Mac really shines on with some lyrical verses. The album debuted at #4 on the US Billboard 200 charts.
"Brand Name" was recorded at ID Labs in Pittsburgh, PA ran by Eric "E" Dan who ran the popular studio to Wiz Khalifa and Mac. Mac did record most of the songs from the album at this Studio sharing the album to some other great artists. Two other top hits off the album were "100 Grandkids" and "Weekend" featuring Miguel.
Brand Name is that track that resonates with me due to the concept of being placed in a make-shift world where nothing is real it is all made up. Feeling the lyrics of struggling between good and bad, or heaven and hell. Trying to do whats right, but having to do what's wrong just to make it. My Life Story... The most memorable line was when he said "Shooting dice with Jesus Christ, put 20 on the midnight / To everyone who sell me drugs / Don't mix it with that bullshit / I'm hoping not to join the 27 Club / Just want the coke-dealer house with the velvet rug / Fuck the world, there's no one else but us /. Sadly Mac passed away at the age of 26 due to an Overdose of a bad mix of drugs he was sold. Mac's music has always been the type of music that hits home with people dealing with bad times, stress, addiction, and even suicide. It was like he was living some of our lives and we could relate to the struggles he was dealing with himself.
This morning I say Good Morning Mac Miller aka Hip Hop. We Made It To The Weekend......
