Good Morning Hip Hop: Rainy Dayz - Raekwon

Image
Good Morning Hip Hop, Peace Morning All Happy Friday.... Lets Talk About This One Raekwon - Rainy Dayz a classic off the  Only Built 4 Cuban Linx. With one of the most anticipated Wu Albums Rae came with it on this with the Lyrical Darts and Top Notch Production from Rza... With so many hits on this album, it was one of them joints you just left it on Repeat and handled your business. Released August 1, 1995 was the perfect time to drop his Debut album. The End of Summer of '95 was a damn vibe in itself that year. Music was at an all time high, and cats was dropping some classic hits in '95. The album Debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 chart, and number two on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, while selling 130,000 copies in its opening week. The album was certified Gold by October of 1995. Raekwon hails from Staten Island, NY, but was born in Brooklyn, NY. Rae's style was for the hood dudes the drug dealers and the stick up dudes. His music was s...

Good Morning Hip Hop: Brand Name - Mac Miller

Image
GO:OD AM - MAC MILLER Good Morning Hip Hop, Peace Morning All Happy Friday.... RIP Mac Miller... This morning we are talking about the Good Brother Mac Miller aka Malcolm McCormick from Pittsburgh, PA. This track is from his Certified Gold Album "GO:OD AM" his 3rd studio album released September 18, 2015... This is one of those Jazzy tracks that Mac really shines on with some lyrical verses. The album debuted at #4 on the US Billboard 200 charts. "Brand Name" was recorded at ID Labs in Pittsburgh, PA ran by Eric "E" Dan who ran the popular studio to Wiz Khalifa and Mac. Mac did record most of the songs from the album at this Studio sharing the album to some other great artists. Two other top hits off the album were "100 Grandkids" and "Weekend" featuring Miguel. Brand Name is that track that resonates with me due to the concept of being placed in a make-shift world where nothing is real it is all made up. Feeling the l...

Good Morning Hip Hop: Wrong Idea - Bad Azz ft Snoop Dogg -

Image
RIP BAD AZZ Peace Morning to all My Hip Hop Family... The West Coast Lost Another Lyrical Genius by the name of Bad Azz aka Jamarr Antonio Stamps a representative of the DPGC (Dogg Pound Gangsta Crips). Bad Azz got known for his feature on 2 Pac's track Krazy om The 7 day Theory LP. Bad Azz was a lyrical beast in my opinion. He was one of those California artist that would surprise you when he spit his shit. Bad Azz was set to sign with Pac before his death. Bad Azz appeared on countless features making him a go to for that verse you needed for that lyrical cali shit. Featuring on Snoop, Daz, The Eastsidaz, Warren G, and a collaboration album with Bizzy Bone called "Thug Pound." When people think about the West Coast they do not always associate Lyrical with the west. I have always been a fan of many Lyrical Mcs from the West Coast and Bad Azz was one of them. I grew up in Newark NJ, and I had no problem telling my boys this West Coast shit is Fire. Way befor...

Good Morning Hip Hop: Find A Way - ATCQ

Image
"Find a Way" is a song by ATCQ, the first single from their fifth album The Love Movement. The New York Times' Ben Ratliff wrote that "Find a Way" "innocently wonders about the point at which friendship spills over into sex." This is one of many favorite ATCQ (A Tribe Called Quest) tracks. Produced by Ummah a collective group of producers Q Tip, J. Dilla, and Ali Shaheed Muhammad.  The word "Ummah" is Arabic for "community", "nation", or "brotherhood". Generally, the term refers to the global Muslim population. The track was for the Love Movement Album releases August 25, 1998. The track features samples from "Technova" by Towa Tei.  The Song peaked at #18 on the U.S. Hot Rap Singles.  Peaking at #71 on the U S. Billboards Hot 100. Also #29 on U S. Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks This video was classic Tribe reminiscence to the old "Bonita Applebum" an...

Good Morning Hip Hop: Wrong Side Of The Tracks - Artifacts

Image
If you guys weren't aware I am a Product of Newark, NJ 07104 to be Exact. A North Newark Area close to end of Newark before you hit Belleville.  Growing up in Newark is what you would expect from a low income city. Drugs and Violence, but the commonality about the city was the bond of Family. Bonded by tradition and music. Not to get on a rant about my up-comings, but just to let you know I am a part of this Jersey Hip Hop Culture.  Now on to talk about my Brothers RIP Dj Kaos, Tame One and El Da Sensei the members of Artifacts. A hip Hop Group from Newark, NJ. Their love for Hip Hop and Graffiti explains the group to the tee.  I can remember exploring the city as a teenager and seeing this ICONIC tag.  Tame One Tag (Yellow) It was all over the city, and if you are familiar with the Culture of Hip Hop and Graffiti this was a sign of being the top. If your tag was all over the City and in other Cities yo were said to be one of the to...
