Good Morning Hip Hop: Find A Way - ATCQ

Image
"Find a Way" is a song by ATCQ, the first single from their fifth album The Love Movement. The New York Times' Ben Ratliff wrote that "Find a Way" "innocently wonders about the point at which friendship spills over into sex." This is one of many favorite ATCQ (A Tribe Called Quest) tracks. Produced by Ummah a collective group of producers Q Tip, J. Dilla, and Ali Shaheed Muhammad.  The word "Ummah" is Arabic for "community", "nation", or "brotherhood". Generally, the term refers to the global Muslim population. The track was for the Love Movement Album releases August 25, 1998. The track features samples from "Technova" by Towa Tei.  The Song peaked at #18 on the U.S. Hot Rap Singles.  Peaking at #71 on the U S. Billboards Hot 100. Also #29 on U S. Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks This video was classic Tribe reminiscence to the old "Bonita Applebum" an...

I wanted to reminisce on one of my all time favorite Gang Starr Tracks "Above The Clouds." Above The Clouds Features Inspectah Deck of Wu-Tang Clan and is no doubt on of the best features ever in Gang Starr history. This track is one of Premier's most iconic tracks in my opinion of course. But I will bet it is in most people's top 10 Preemo Beats. Included the video below to give you Preemo's Insight of how that track came about. Guru and Deck on this track together was a masterpiece. The two voices on one track was like a match made in heaven. With Preemo's melodic beat and fire verses from the two this track was a banger when it came out. Hip Hop ne...

If you guys weren't aware I am a Product of Newark, NJ 07104 to be Exact. A North Newark Area close to end of Newark before you hit Belleville.  Growing up in Newark is what you would expect from a low income city. Drugs and Violence, but the commonality about the city was the bond of Family. Bonded by tradition and music. Not to get on a rant about my up-comings, but just to let you know I am a part of this Jersey Hip Hop Culture.  Now on to talk about my Brothers RIP Dj Kaos, Tame One and El Da Sensei the members of Artifacts. A hip Hop Group from Newark, NJ. Their love for Hip Hop and Graffiti explains the group to the tee.  I can remember exploring the city as a teenager and seeing this ICONIC tag.  Tame One Tag (Yellow) It was all over the city, and if you are familiar with the Culture of Hip Hop and Graffiti this was a sign of being the top. If your tag was all over the City and in other Cities yo were said to be one of the to...
